District Info Elementary Home Learning Middle School/High School Home Learning COVID-19 Info Need Help? Community Resources

November 22, 2020

Dear York CSD Community:

I am writing to notify you that the YCS District was informed by the Department of Health that one of our students has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to HIPPA regulations, we are unable to share any additional information about the student who tested positive for COVID-19. Please also be advised that administration has reached out to all families and students that were in close contact.

We have and will continue to work closely with the Livingston County Department of Health. It was through the LCDoH guidance that students and staff that were in close contact were notified to quarantine. Due to this quarantine, the 5th grade will move to fully remote tomorrow, November 23rd and 24th. After Thanksgiving, they will remain fully remote, as will the rest of YCS as a safety precaution on November 30th and December 1st. We plan to resume our in-person and hybrid models on Wednesday, December 2nd.

The health and safety of all students, staff, and our community remains our highest priority at this time. We continue to follow the directives from NYS Department of Health and local health officials, and will continue to enforce our health and safety processes and policies.

As the holiday season is upon us, please remain vigilant in your efforts and help any further spread of the COVID-19 virus. Your proactive efforts will help to keep all of us safe.

Sincerely,

David M. Furletti

Dear York CSD Community:

I am writing to notify you that the YCS District was informed by the Department of Health that one of our staff members has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to HIPPA regulations, we are unable to share any additional information about the staff member who tested positive for COVID-19. Please also be advised the staff has not shown any symptoms at this time and our students and staff are not at risk from this positive case.

We have and will continue to work closely with the Livingston County Department of Health. It was through the LCDoH guidance that we determined that there was no risk to our students and staff and therefore will continue to remain open for our in-person and hybrid model learning.

The health and safety of all students, staff, and our community remains our highest priority at this time. We continue to follow the directives from NYS Department of Health and local health officials, and will continue to enforce our health and safety processes and policies.

Please remain vigilant in your efforts and help stop any further spread of the COVID-19 virus. Your proactive efforts will help to keep all of us safe.

YCS Families and Community,

I would like to start by thanking the students, staff, and families for your efforts in keeping everyone safe as we move through this year.  It has and will continue to be a different experience than in the past.

I am writing today to inform you of a preventative public health decision YCS is making after consultation with the Livingston County Department of Health.  In an effort to keep our students and families safe, we will be moving ALL in-person learning to fully remote learning for the days of Monday, November 30 and Tuesday, December 1.

The reason that we are making the temporary change is that through ongoing conversations that are had multiple times a week with Livingston County Department of Health, we believe that this change is an investment in prevention that could limit the potential for any community and school based spread following Thanksgiving holiday gatherings.  This would allow us to resume our in-person and hybrid models with little or no impact to the instruction.  Specifically this will:

  • Limit the impact of returning college students to our community

  • Limit the impact of potential spread at Thanksgiving gatherings

  • Provide an opportunity to reduce the impact of potential travel quarantines

  • Provide adequate time for any symptoms to become known prior to bringing the students and staff back together

Daily learning schedules for November 30 and December 1 will be provided in the near future.
