Welcome to the Golden Knights family!

Mr. Keenan's Tech class learned how powerful the sun is and how solar energy can be used.
The students created their individual cookers to place the ingredients in: Graham cracker, milk chocolate and a marshmallow.
They took advantage of these warm, bright days and let solar heat cook their s'mores.
After a few minutes in the sun the result was a gooey s'more. Delicious!

One of our favorite nights is when we welcome our families into our school- their school!
Thank you to all our York families who attended our Middle/High School Open House 2024! We enjoyed seeing everyone.
Thank you to the representatives who distributed important information and to Comfort Food Trucks for being here.

Mr. Earsing and Mrs. Schumacher's Earth Science students practiced locating longitudinal and latitudinal lines by playing Battleship, a tabletop game where players must determine the location of their opponent's ships by estimating the lines on the game's grid.
This was a great illustration of how latitude and longitude are used to measure distance from the earth's equator and north/south poles.

It's Open House at York Middle/High School!

Good foggy morning to you...

It's amazing the talent that flows in Kathleen Andrzejczak's AP Art class.
At the beginning of the course, students were asked to do a creativity exercise... just draw!
They did and just look at the variety of art they produced.
Expect to see great art coming out of these students this year! We will be sure to share it.

Is there really double the cream in an Oreo Double Stuff cookie?
Mrs. Brubaker's Freshman Living Environment students conducted a lab in class to find the answer.
Each student received three regular Oreo cookies and three Double Stuff Oreo cookies.
Using an electronic scale, the students had to determine the mass of the cream centers from each cookie and record their findings.
The students determined that the Double Stuff Oreos did not contain double the stuff.
In fact, their lab tests revealed that the center cream of the Double Stuff Oreo is about 1 gram less than the doubled amount of center cream contained in the regular Oreo cookie.
There you have it - the Double Stuff Oreo is considerably more expensive than regular Oreos....and they do not contain double the stuff!

Meet Nicholas Nicassio - Middle/High School Vocal Music teacher.
Welcome to the Golden Knights family!
"I have always loved music since before I can remember. I also wanted to teach ever since I was in grade school.
I want students to remember the fun and joy of making music together, and hopefully, they will want to sing in a choir or play an instrument as they go into college and beyond. These can be some of the most fulfilling and memorable experiences."

Meet Erin Fox - Elementary School classroom aide
Welcome to the Golden Knights family!
" I chose York for some obvious reasons- my kids, my husband being an alum, his family members all being alum... but I love the sense of community. The environment. The people I've had interactions with prior to applying for my position. I realized that in my previous job I was not at my fullest potential because I wasn't happy and needed to make that change. I worked in a school 10 years ago with children who had special needs and adored that work and it was about time I got back to it. I could not be more excited to be back in a school, especially at York! I am eager for the opportunities that lie ahead. Go Golden Knights!"
