Congratulations to Middle/High School Principal Lindsey Peet, District Payroll & Human Services Clerk Ronni Plank, and Elementary School Librarian Michelle Feltham.
We appreciate all that do for our students and staff!
Each month, we ask our faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members to nominate a Golden Knight staff member who demonstrates one of the three YCS Vision qualities: Preparing, Challenging or Inspiring. Students, staff, families, and the community may nominate a staff member for Knights recognition.
In a couple of weeks we will be asking for nominations for the May-June Employee Recognition Award. This will be our final staff award recognition of the 2023-2024 school year. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a York Golden Knight.

Tuesday, May 21, 2024, York Central School District and public schools throughout New York will vote on the 2024-2025 school budgets. District residents will also elect Board of Education members.
Additionally, residents will decide on Proposition #2, the Energy Performance Contract, which will generate an additional 10% of much needed NYS aid, over and above the 71.9% aid the District will receive to complete several energy upgrades to our facilities. With voter approval on May 21, 2024, YCS will enter into an Energy Performance Contract, EPC, generating an additional $83,600 in savings annually with NO IMPACT TO THE TAXPAYERS.
York CSD residents - voting is from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ivan F. Hilfiker auditorium foyer.

Congratulations to Sophomore Ashley Gianforti and Senior Grace Christiano, whose artwork earned a Gold Key Award at the Regional Scholastic Arts & Writing Competition. The Gold Key Award is the highest award presented and automatically places the students' artwork in the National competition. Winners will be announced on June 12, 2024.
Junior Lalaith Spencer earned a Silver Award and Junior Anna Chen earned two Honorable Mention Awards for her artwork.

York CSD's Wizard of Oz Placed in Top Ten
Congratulations are in order for the cast of York CSD’s Wizard of Oz. The cast traveled to West Herr Auditorium Theatre in Rochester on May 10, 2024, to perform in the Rochester Broadway Theatre League’s Stars of Tomorrow show.
It was a fantastic night for the Wizard cast as they landed in the top 10 for Best Acting Ensemble, Best Vocal Ensemble, and Best Production Design.
Haley Miller (Dorothy), Devin Cunningham (Scarecrow), Evan Carroll (Tin Man), and Sophie Hatfield (Cowardly Lion) were all recognized for Achievement in a Leading Role.
In addition, Freshman Sophie Hatfield, who played the Cowardly Lion in the November 2023 show, was selected from over 250 students to be in the top 40 cast members vying for the honor of representing the Rochester region at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, known as the Jimmy Awards performance.Sophie will audition for this prestigious opportunity at Auditorium Theater on May 21 and 23. The top two student actors, one male and one female, will be chosen from this performance to represent our region at The Jimmy Awards in New York City in June.
