Representatives from the University of Rochester Imaging program were guests at York High School for a lunch and learn opportunity for students. Radiology Technologists Emily Hill and Kimani Gibson talked about what Rad Techs do and the varied settings in which they perform their jobs. Students learned what an x-ray is - a picture of the inside of the body. These images are interpreted by a Radiologist for diagnosis and treatment of an injury, abnormality, and disease. Rad Techs have the opportunity to advance their skills and education through specialized training, which prepares them for different areas of radiology such as computer tomography (CT), interventional radiology (IR), or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Assistant Clinical Directors Ashley Conley and Kristin Kozak from UR Medicine also participated in the lunch and learn. Rad Techs are in high demand and students can expect to secure employment upon completion of their education.
