Thanks For the Memories! Who needs a machine to time travel? Sometimes a simple object can transport you to a time in the past. Just think about where your mind roams when you are cleaning out a closet and you find an old yearbook. Your first instinct might be to toss it, but then you open it and memories flood out. Maybe it's your prom or your child's kindergarten picture. Then your brain starts a sequence of flashbacks and hopefully a smile comes to your face and your spirits rise. Or maybe you are preparing for Thanksgiving dinner and come across a serving plate your mother or grandmother used. Hopefully it brings to mind the people, the conversations, the food and, if you are lucky, your nose remembers some of the smells just before you are called to eat. Might you use this platter again? YCS has updated and modernized, but there are still some remnants of objects that create nostalgia in the viewer. These connections help make bridges between the students of yesterday and the students of today. School creates memories that can last a lifetime. Some of you had this experience when you visited YCS Open Houses. P.S. It's not "bad" to be a hoarder within reason. Is this object in your past? Picture yourself when… Enjoy and reminisce.

Mrs. Liptak challenged her students to design and build a water lifting machine using simple machines to efficiently lift water from one level to another. The students worked in partners and each team designed a unique solution to Mrs. Liptak's project. The water pump project had great success!
